What are the advantages and disadvantages of studying an online course?

In the past decade, there has been a great increase in the number and variety of online courses available to adults. This has been welcomed as a great opportunity by many students, however, other students see these courses as less effective than classroom teaching.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of studying an online course?

Distance learning has seen an upsurge in recent years thanks to digital modernization. For many adults, they see online learning as their tool for future successes, while others deem it ineffective and prefer traditional learning. This essay will present the benefits and downsides of learning online.

The convenience of being able to access quality education anywhere and anytime through portable devices is the biggest reason for the popularity of online learning. This feature makes it attractive to adults who may have problems managing their time. In addition, online learning can be a portal for many individuals who are financially incapable of going to academic institutions. They can learn everything about anything from prestigious universities at a more affordable price. As such, online-based education's popularity will only rise further in the future.

The promise of comfort and affordability seems to be unremarkable for some people though. Classroom-based learning is still the preference of many. One downside of distance learning is its lack of interaction. Every individual has his or her own approach to studying. Although videos and audios are readily available in the courses, the full content of a certain lesson cannot be explained thoroughly. In a classroom set-up, a student can ask and clarify a topic by asking questions to the teacher. This feature is only available in some online courses. Free online courses do not provide professional feedback after each finished unit. One more drawback would be the fact that it can be boring as it does not promote physical activity. A student can spend hours sitting in front of a computer. In the end, taking online courses can pose health hazards to students.

As the ways of studying evolve, not everyone can agree that one style is better than the other. For some, a mix of both is more helpful than choosing only one approach. The important thing is that the learner has carefully gauged and identified the pros and cons of the choices he makes.

The table reveals the earned income they make after 5 years’ work according to three kinds of employment.
