Two-part Question Essay (Working student)

Some students work while studying. This often results in lacking time for education and constantly feeling under pressure.

What do you think are the causes of this?

What solutions can you suggest?

 Sample essay:

It is universally accepted that obtaining a college degree is the first step for a better life. This is the reason why many undergraduates, despite having some struggles, choose to work part-time while attending school. This essay will enumerate some of the reasons for this trend and some suggestions on how to fix these.

Education comes with a price and to receive the best quality education, students must pay a hefty amount to schools. Unfortunately, only a few people can afford this. As a result, many learners opt to look for a job to support their educational needs. However, sometimes work can be demanding both physically and mentally. Another reason for this trend is independence. Many young people nowadays want to live independently as a choice. These individuals want to prove that they can care for themselves without the help of others. On some rare occasions though some parents encourage their children to live on their own. With this, they do not have a choice but to fend for themselves.

As the working student lifestyle has become the norm, it is essential that help is provided when necessary. For instance, regarding money issues, financial aid should be provided to struggling students. Schools and local governments must have programs that can assist students with their funding. Colleges should provide special guidelines and a more flexible school schedule for their working students. More affordable options such as online classes should be available to them. For governments, they must remind local businesses that college students’ main priority is their studies and that work must not be too overwhelming for them.

Overall, it is understood that college education is essential and that many people are willing to experience hardships just to complete their studies. As members of society, we should learn to be considerate. Pressuring people with expectations to do well in everything is unrealistic and often results in more problems.
