Opinion essay sample (TV and Computer Games Violence)




My Sample:

Television shows and computer games that show violence are thought to have negative influences on many viewers’ behavior while the opposite opinion is believed by others. They say that there are other elements that can affect a person’s actions. This essay will explain the author's perspectives on how both these points are correct.

According to many studies, there is a connection between what a person watches and how he acts. This reaction can be compared to how food affects our mood. Television shows and digital games can directly stimulate the brain by producing certain chemicals that alter the mood of an individual watching a violent show or playing an aggressive game. Since science backs up the idea that these kinds of entertainments can impact our behavior, there is no question that this is true and highly agreeable.

Although there is definite evidence for its influence on behavior, it is hard to conclude that the reason for a person’s threatening actions are the result of what he or she enjoys watching and playing. The influence of an individual’s environment, upbringing, and many others should also play a role in shaping up his personality and behavior. Nowadays, many movies and games have horrific scenes and stories that can be viewed online for free. Despite this fact, only a few numbers of people exhibit a violent nature. With this explanation, it can be finalized that many other elements contribute to how actions are molded and changed.

In general, considering the reasons and examples explained above, it can be said that the actions of a person can be a result of media influences, but these are not limited to only this. What is important is that proper guidance must be continuously provided so that negative traits will not develop.
