Why boredom is good for you
Sample Essay:
In our fast-paced world where people can do almost virtually
everything, boredom seems like an experience that is always taken negatively.
Little do most people know that having nothing to do at one point in a day has
many advantages. This essay will mainly explain two points on how dull times
essentially helps us in a lot of ways.
The principal benefit of boredom
is that it helps the brain rewire and recharge. Sometimes stress can affect the
way we process information in our heads and this results in more stress. Having
the time to pause and do nothing clears the thought processes in the brain. Since
our brain is also an organ, it needs rest to function well again. Therefore,
keeping ourselves busy doing nothing for a short period of time can give our
minds ample time to refresh before putting it under stressful conditions once
more.
When the brain is fully rested,
the other merit of boredom will take effect: creativity. Humans naturally look
for ways to spend time productively. As mentioned before, when a person
experiences a lot of stress, he or she would try to look for ways to solve
problems that currently experienced. In some fortunate situations, a person
might suddenly think of possible ways to resolve their challenges. This
unforeseen genius can only be thought of by people with sound and clear minds.
